World Series Final Game Draws 51M Viewers Across the United States, Canadian and Japan Regions.

The thrilling extended clash that saw the Los Angeles Dodgers overcome the Blue Jays by one run attracted a total over 50 million viewers in the US, Canada, and Japanese markets. MLB announced this represents the most-watched World Series Game 7 since the 1991 edition contest between the Minnesota Twins and Braves.

Television Ratings Breakdown

The Saturday memorable contest averaged 27.33M audience members on Fox Sports channels, its Spanish-language channel and their streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the week.

It also stands as the most-watched World Series matchup since the 2017 final game involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged over 29 million. This represents a sixteen percent improvement compared to the last finale between the Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19 million.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game ranked 4th, Game 4 ranked seventh, Game 5 came in eighth, and Game 3 finished in 13th place.

Global Viewership Numbers

In Canada, the climactic game drew 11.6 million watchers on Sportsnet and the French TVA Sports. This was the highest-rated English broadcast in Canada since the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final contest started at 9 PM local time, it attracted 12 million viewers. This followed the previous Friday’s Game 6 – in which Fall Classic MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up a single run in six innings – recorded 13.1M viewers, making it the most-watched World Series game on a single network in Japan.

Series Totals and Trends

The full seven-game World Series drew 15.71M audience members on Fox, a two percent rise from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This marks the initial instance after 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has recorded viewership growth for two straight years.

Including the Game 1 broadcast on the Univision network, the complete US average reached over 16 million. The total Fall Classic average in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The complete MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 recorded over 8 million viewers, an 8% rise compared to last year and the network’s strongest playoff ratings since 2017.

Major League Baseball reported that the Fall Classic was broadcast in over 200 nations and regions by forty-four media partners in 16 different languages.
